SAMARIS WANTED 2 SAY
The iconic Bjork gave Iceland its reputation for whimsical electronica, but it is Samaris that will uphold it. The trio bring together an unlikely mix of clarinet, synths and the stunningly haunted voice of Jófríður Ákadóttir, weaving eerie soundscapes that echo the natural awe of their home country. Sparse, expansive and spine tinglingly ethereal, their new album Black Lights lands on 10th June via One Little Indian, and to give us an insight they’ve released a video for single ‘Wanted 2 Say’. Don’t let the text-speak put you off, as their first ever track in English is magnificently delicate and intelligent. Filled with jerky, modern dance and full moon spooks, they've certainly made us sit up. With various dates happening across Europe, we suggest you clear your diary. - SJ
